Honey Crisp apples are in and some are so big they're good to slice and share, but it's important to keep them from browning so they look as good as they taste. Apples are great for school lunches and snacks. That's where this product comes in.

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of the powder with water in a spray bottle and lightly spray the apple slices. They won't brown and the taste isn't altered as it would be if straight lemon juice were used. If you use too much you might get a slightly lemon-y taste, but even then it's not enough to overpower the apple. A little does the job well. The solution can be kept in the fridge for a long time and used often.

It's not just for apples, but will keep a basil pesto or guacamole its rich vibrant green. It also works for potatoes, artichokes and other foods that darken quickly after being cut.

The stuff is worth its weight in gold. Because it dissolves in water it offers lots of healthy possibilities. A cold... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Powdered vitamin C, February 27, 2011

I have used "NOW" brand powdered vitamin C in the past, both the three pound package of ascorbic acid powder and three pound sodium ascorbate. A level measuring teaspoon holds about 13,000 mg. If you dislike pills, the sodium ascorbate is nearly tasteless in either water or juice. My aggressive prostate cancer has been in remission for 14 years, mostly by 10,000 mg per day of vitamin C. Amazon sells my book:"Vitamins Can Kill Cancer."

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, May 12, 2010
I use it to sprinkle into a bathtub to neutralize the chlorine, the same way "Vitamin C" shower filters work. Add some Epsom Salt or Dead Sea Salt, and it's like going to a SPA bath. NICE! Also, I take powdered chlorella with a cup of water as a natural detox from heavy metals, and adding 1 tsp ascorbic acid makes the taste okay, if not exactly great.
